Electrostatic Sprayers Do Their Job in Keeping Office Workspaces Safe
As employees are returning to work, businesses are utilizing office cleaning companies to combat COVID-19. The coronavirus is most commonly spread person to person through respiratory particles, but according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “droplets can also land on surfaces and objects and be transferred by touch. A person may get COVID-19 by touching the surface or object that has the virus on itand then touching their own mouth, nose, or eyes.” In an effort to help keep employees safe, electrostatic sprayers have been used increasingly as part of infection control measures.
An electrostatic sprayer dispenses a positively charged chemical disinfectant onto surfaces and objects that have just been used. Some products may not have to be wiped down and can take up to 10 minutes to dry. Other products may need wiping, especially in high-traffic areas. The U.S. Army Public Health Center recommends using chemical products that are registered with the Environmental Protection Agency and compatible with the sprayers. These products have been shown to be effective against “a harder-to-kill virus,” “emerging viral pathogens” or “another human coronavirus.”
Electrostatic sprayers are not just more effective in disinfecting surfaces, but they can help save money for office cleaning companies. The Water Quality & Health Council cited a study from the American Journal of Infection Control that showed that electrostatic sprayers using a bleach solution was able to disinfect areas that ultraviolet [(UV)-C] light could not reach. The EPA also found that, by covering objects and surfaces evenly, the sprayers generated 75 times less liquid waste than traditional sprayers.
